It may be inspired by the flag of the EU, who can say for sure? However, the two are not related at all - the 10 stars (where the EU has 12) represent the 10 islands of Cabo Verde themselves.
That's why I spell it as Ivory Coast which is still accepted even though it's no longer official and I know how to spell Cote d'Ivoire. Cyprus is another one that is difficult to get my fingers working correctly on, even though I know the correct spelling in my brain.
I suspected it to be in the "I" version of the quiz because there are way less "I" than "C" countries, like to even out the numbers but it's not there either. What happened??

Things are called what people insist on calling it, but people continue to say their or there instead of they're and vice versa. That doesnt make it right though.
If everyone in the rest of the world would call america whatever, think of something... You'd be sure people would correct it and say that is not the name.. They are allready up in arms when someone mentions the americas is the name for both north and south america.
