there's no way athens is farther east than sofia.

I thought the same thing but it's true! Sofia is just NNW of Athens. Wow...I guessed Budapest, Warsaw and Stockholm and never once considered Athens.

A couple of minor-ish issues with the coordinates in the answer grid.

First, Helsinki is at 24°56'E not 25°56'E.

Second, since all the answers are arranged East-to-West, one would expect Tallinn (at 24°45'E) to come before Riga (at 24°06'E) but it appears afterward in the grid.

So those three lines should be:

24°56'EHelsinki
24°45'ETallinn
24°06'ERiga

What about Nicosia? Cyprus is in the EU.

That's true, Cyprus is in the EU, but not considered to be in Europe, as the continent of Europe in this quiz is meant to be geographical and the membership status of the EU is political.
