Charlotte should be first for NC. Also, since you are using metro area populations, Peoria should be second for IL. Aurora is already part of the Chicago metro area.

Who said metro area? We are going by citypopulation urban agglomerations. :)

Metro area / urban agglomeration, similar meaning. You are not using city proper figures. I still think Aurora's 200,000 is included in Chicago's 9.8 million.

It isn't, according to citypopulation.de (as stated for the third time). We used the Major Agglomerations page for the 1M+ cities and the states' "subpages" for the other three.

When I look at the map on citypopulation.de I am fairly certain that the Chicago suburb of Aurora is included in the Chicago agglomeration. The "subpages" give city proper populations. It has Chicago's at about 2.7 million. The remaining 7 million in the Chicago agglomeration are in the suburbs, of which Aurora is one.

I clicked on the 'Metro Areas in Illinois' page, which gave me Aurora. Regardless of city proper, metro areas, or urban agglomerations, Chicago is the biggest city, followed by Aurora.

@Quizzer, I think Joez is correct. Aurora is part of the Chicago CSA. On citypopulation.de click on Chicago. You should see the urban area highlighted. Zoom in. You will see that Aurora is part of the Chicago area. Hope this helps, but feel free to e-mail me if you think I'm wrong.
