Great! Got stuck at 16/29, don't understand how I should have moved on, although perhaps it's because I'm not sure what the clue in D2 means

after a few times managed to find all 29 (without cheating!) but still without understanding the D2 clue... great quiz!

It meant that in column E, no countries have capitals with the same starting letter. For example, Nauru and Cameroon have capitals Yaren and Yaoundé, so the countries couldn't both be in E. The capitals can't have the same first letter ('Y').

how do you know? if I haven't made a mistake you can complete the quiz without using the Djibouti hint
+1
Level 65

The Djibouti hint help you distinguish Chad and Togo. If Togo was in column E, it would be in the same column as Peru. Peru and Togo can't be in the same column because all of column E's capitals can't have the same starting letters.

I see - I worked it out by using 'Panama is in the same

column as Togo.' and to decide where Panama/Guatemala went I used the clue in E3. Anyway, maybe it would be clearer if you wrote 'capitals of column E's countries have different initial letters'? at least I got confused on whether they were unique within the column, within the whole quiz or what

Couldn't you have D.R.C. in the same space as Djibouti? or am I missing something.

The clue in D2 suggests that Chad shoudn't be right for E2 -- Chad's capital starts with N, as does Niger's, Kenya's and Mali's. Does the reference to "initial letters" mean more than the first letter?
+1

Initial letter of capitals in that column, so not T(tallinn), not L(Lima) etc.

Thanks for this quiz - it's great! Have taken this twice and both times, the last clue is D2 - how does one know which country of the two that qualify for that continent to select? Also, given the D2 contains a clue, it would not seem to be intended as the final clue.

I assume you had the same question as me, I'm assuming that maybe Quizzer6794 doesn't count that country as starting with that letter, or maybe just overlooked it. Maybe we both just missed a clue though.

On Sporcle, they usually define "adjacency" in the instructions. Sometimes diagonals count, sometimes not. Better to just clear that confusion up (although, I suppose if you assume it could mean anything, eventually you'd know where Canada has to go anyway).

E1: There are exactly 2 two word countries. United Kingdom and which other one? "United States" is a four word country. United States of America.

So, that clue is misleading, as I ran out of time trying to think of a two word country island near China. Since there was only one actual two word country to that point.
