What about what’s the difference between the French Revolution and the American revolution. Who googles that. One is in France, one is in America, it doesn’t take a phd to figure that out

Don't get me started on the Ice Age/Stone Age question. Or the Jesus and God. Or battle and war. Then again, this is JetPunk.

I don't think these are necessarily dumb questions at all. People know there IS a difference between WW1 and WW2 in the same way they know there's a difference between Lenin and Stalin. They want to know what that is - e.g. more deaths in WW2, Japan fighting against the Western Allies rather than on the same side, USA as a formal Ally rather than an Associated Power, far greater role for strategic bombing... All sorts of things that could actually be linked to quite complex enquiries.

I could concede on those ones, but what about asking the difference between battle and war? What doubt can reasonably exist about that one?

Level 39

Probably but I guess there battles which don't fit the conventional picture either and are more like wars. It might make more sense, for example, to call the Battle of the Atlantic a war. It's perfectly legitimate to ask 'why isn't it?'

Some of the people googling these things might be nine years old. They might be non-native English speakers. The people who are googling these things are trying to acquire knowledge. No one should be looking down on them.

You're right about it being true of uniformed people (i.e. the British army). And it is probably also true of uninformed people.

Excellent quiz and interesting how you instinctively get inside other people's minds to find the answers.

Stumped by Roanoke due to my lack of knowledge of US history, and I'm off to Google 'Ronin,' probably due my lack of interest in waving swords around!

Thanks.

I'm hoping people are Googling it to find out how their literary styles and themes differ. But at the same time, they're so often grouped together, and often used pen names as well, so it's not unreasonable that there are people who think they're the same person.

They all used pen names (Acton, Currer and Ellis Bell), but that's no reason to confuse them.
