When the Ottomans captured Constantinople, they renamed it Istanbul. Interesting quiz. Didn't know California, Manchukuo, or Venice.

Actually it was only changed to Istanbul in 1930, eight years after the Ottoman monarchy fell.

As far as I'm concerned, the capital of a city-state is the city itself, not a certain section of it. And, the Californian Republic lasted only a few weeks, classified as an unrecognized state, and had no actual capitol. Besides that, it's pretty accurate.
