Votic as a Finnic language is highly mutually intelligble both to Estonian and Finnish speakers. I am of course biased as a Finnish speaker, but it is a very beautiful language.

Same can be said about every language. Language and culture are strongly interconnected. It would be great if people would like to preserve almost forgotten knowledge from their ancestors, and the governments would support it. In some countries it is likely, in some dictatorships it is impossible. If language dies because of suppression, it is a crime against humanity.
