You've gotta be trolling. In case you aren't..... All of those countries you mentioned (with the exception Nicaragua) are Carribbean Countries, not Central American countries. There are only 7 countries in Central America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_America

Many count the Caribbean and Mexico as part of Central America.

And many do not. The wonderful thing about standards is there are so many to choose from :)

I would have thought those are included, too, but I guess it's an Italian thing - the corresponding wikipedia page in Italian considers Grenada etc, too ( https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_Centrale )

I was taught Mexico was in Latin America but not Central America.

Apart from the debatable in- or exclusion of the Greater and Lesser Antilles, how come I'm the first to comment on that blatant “Niceragua” slip?

People often mix up central america and middle america. Surprised no one brought that up yet.

I was taught Mexico was part of Central America too. I guess it's again one of those things that differs a bit depending on who looks at it.

Yeah. I had always learned that "North America" was the big three. Canada, USA, Mexico. And that "Central America" was all of the smaller countries. Since it's not really an official region, I guess it's all in who teaches it.

I was taught by my Risk board, which would've been really hard to put any armies in at all without Mexico :)

Central America is part of the continent of North America. Central America does not include Mexico.

Mexico is part of North America, but it can also be considered part of Central America as the region is geographically defined as the continental land that stretches between the isthmus of Tehuantepec (In Mexico) and the isthmus of Panama.

As I understand, Mexico is part of North America, but also of Latin America.

Some say Central America begins in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Under that definition, Mexico is in both North and Central America.

I think North America is a geographic term and Latin America deals with the language (Latin derived or Germanic)

Mar 5, 2016
"Latin America" is a super-regional designation for countries in the Americas that speak a language descended from Latin, namely Spanish or Portuguese. (There's some debate if French should be included, but typically it isn't. A source that covers this in part is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBt5rMD2aDc.) Thus, the nations of Belize, Guyana, and Suriname are excluded from Latin America.

1.15 left, a lot of time (esp for those that like doing all the geography quizzes). As for what constitutes Central America, the map is a good clue

Needs a time limit of 10 or 15 seconds. Moderate-speed typists will be able to finish the whole quiz as it stands. It needs to be enough of a challenge to weed most people out

I dont think so, I was surprised at how low the scores are ! would have expected everything to be 95%+ atleast ! (There can always be that one that slips your mind) So I guess people struggle with it as is. Eventhough I had more than a minute to spare aswell

I had a nightmare... that we are going to be rekindling the debate over Cyprus being in Asia or Europe or whether Egypt is in Africa or the Middle East on this side of the pond with regards to whether Mexico is part of Central or North America. If the cultural/language/ethnic commonality argument used to place Egypt in the Middle East is repeated here, then Mexico is part of Central America.

And it has gotten dark here, so I dont even see what I am typing only a bit from the screenlight. ( forgot to turn on the light, it was still light when I got in, and cant reach it holding the laptop..)

Like it! Agree though, it’s too easy for this amount of time... to see a fill the map version of this with the current time would be cool as well, I think that’d be more challenging?

Not that points mean a single blessed meaningful thing, but I'm surprised this 30-second cake walk earns them.
