Still sad years later, and it was never just Los Angeles. It sucks to think about how his life after playing ball was just beginning.

It's strange to see a Jetpunk quiz which talks about something that happened hours ago.

i thought he was also proficient in Spanish? Him and Pau Gasol would speak it on the court if im not mistaken.

Yep, he was. His Italian was better, I think, since he grew up there. But I’ve seen him do some interviews in Spanish and he was definitely proficient. He was a smart, talented guy.

I'd say his Spanish was functional rather than proficient

I'm sure the people who know them are devastated. What about some guy in Nebraska you and me never heard of? The loss of people we have some connection with affects us more than those we know nothing about. We really feel the effects of suffering loss. The people we actually knew affect us even more. Losing people we are close to cuts the deepest. Expressing a sense of loss for one does not diminish the loss of others. The truth is that no single person could absorb knowledge of each and every daily death in the world much less suffer the emotional impact of each and every one of them. Knowledge of the loss of each makes me sad when I hear of it. However, the only one I (and most others) sort of knew was Kobe Bryant, and thus we feel his loss most acutely.

I'm a Brit, with no interest or knowledge in Basketball. But Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and LeBron James are big names that come straight to mind whether you know the sport or not. Very sad for one of your greats, and the other people on that helicopter, may they all rest in peace.

I've been a Lakers fan since 2000 and been a Lebron Hater since 2010 but after what happened I sincerely hope the Lakers will win the championship in June and Lebron will be named finals mvp and shout to the sky "Kobe this is for you"

"Lebron hater" is such a sensless thing. Regardless of what you think of him as a player (he's undoubtedly top 5 all time) he has been nothing but an upstanding citizen and a great ambassador to the game. Kobe loved him yet some of Kobe's fans remain "Lebron haters". Just ridiculous.

Level 77

You can despise a player regardless of greatness. I can't stand Lebron but i can still acknowledge his greatness. How many people say that they HATE Tom Brady? Only one of the greatest QBs of all time. The hate poured on a player rarely has to do with his abilities.

bro, its may 2020 rn and im doin this quiz, how could 2020 start any worse. there were the bush fires in not only australia (im aussie) but in parts of america, we lost kobe, his daughter GG, we are so close to beating corona. but kobe will always have a special place in everyones heart, whether you are a basketball fan or not, the first names you think of when you here the word athlete are most likely jordan, kobe, muhhammed ali and the list goes on and on and on. but to loose someone with such a impact on the world and sport as we know it kills me. but he gave us many things to smile about, 5 championships for the lakers, a insane motivation to keep getting better at our craft and the hunger too win. the first game i played back for basketball i couldnt get that stuff off my mind. for the first time in my clubs history i scored 72 points in a game. because kobe didnt double what he was expected to be, he absoloutely destroyed it, RIP the Mamba, may you ball with ur children up above.
