Djibouti City is mainly inhabited by Afar people.

Kirkuk and Mosul are Kurdish-speaking cities.

Hargeisa and Mogadishu are Somali-speaking cities.

You also forgot to add Jerusalem and Tel Habib on the map as well because these cities all belong to Palestine.

It is based on which language is official in that country. If the language is not spoken by the majority of people within a given territory, then it is in grey (but cities from that region may still appear on the quiz).

Therefore Djibouti and Somalia are eligible as Arab League nations, and Kurdistan is eligible as an autonomous region of Iraq.

I should have definitely added Jerusalem (instead of Ramallah which is smaller). As for Tel Aviv it is currently fully in Israel and therefore ineligible (which despite my opposition to the Israeli regime I must keep consistency with the other quizzes).

You can't say Mosul is wrong because they speak Kurdish and then say to add Tel Aviv when it's Hebrew-speaking

I did some digging around. Mosul is mostly Arabic-speaking, although it has a sizeable Kurdish minority. Most Kurds there tend to be bilingual anyway.
