So I dramatically failed on the US version of this quiz. I was a big fan of the idea, however, and that is how this quiz came to be!

A few notes:

I chose population centre data for the population figures. This means that only people living in the built up urban areas are considered. There are some issues with this, such as the fact that neighbourhoods can be split off of cities and turned into their own cities by the data, while in real life they have no administrative value (ex: Cold Lake South is a part of Cold Lake, AB). Sometimes towns are agglomerated together into behemoths which also confuses things (ex: Trail-Fruitvale).

I changed the population limit from 10,000 to 5,000 to give more communities room to breath. This increases obscurity, but also increases the fun (in my opinion).

This is the one Canadian cities quiz where Ontario doesn't dominate the rest of us! :D

I did indeed fail.

I feel you! I don't even know some of the cities in my own province too well (especially around Edmonton area)....

I guess 20 isn't that bad for a Non-Canadian, but I failed all the same. Again Great Quiz.

Oh yeah By the way, how are you guys doing with that Heat Wave? In Michigan instead of heat, we are getting so much rain that we have almost doubled the average July Precipitation and the month isn't even done. It's starting to resemble Cherrapunji.

Thank you! And about the heat wave, it's pretty screwed up right now. I spent the last couple weeks in British Columbia and when I stopped outside of Cranbrook the heat was unlike anything I had seen before. It was like an oven, even the shadows offered no relief.

In Alberta we are dealing with smoke (since BC is burning down), daily temperatures above 30 degrees, drought and a major grasshopper infestation. It's not so bad as BC but it isn't pretty.

How I wish for rain! Hope you guys are doing alright down there too!

Well we'll take some of your heat, you take some of our rain and everything is hopefully fine again.

nice! any thoughts on filling a bit the northernmost parts? eg by allowing population smaller than 5,000 if they are the biggest within 200 km?

Thank you! I'd be willing to look into that :)

I bet a few communities could qualify especially around the Hudsons Bay area. I can't let many communities qualify in Nunavut though without changing the map.

Great quiz! Although I honestly know nothing about Canadian geography beyond the main cities :P I've only been to Toronto and Niagara Falls personally, but I'd also love to see Quebec City, Vancouver, and Banff National Park.

Thank you! Banff and Vancouver are beautiful places to visit, and Vancouver Island is a piece of heaven on earth should you decide to visit :)
