The Calgary Region is the most heavily populated part of Alberta (and one of the fastest growing!) Nestled close to the Rocky Mountain foothills, just an hour and a half drive to the world renowned Banff National Park, Calgary's Metropolitan Region consists of two counties plus the urban core.
There are 12 cities, towns and villages in the region, how many can you name?

Population colours reflect growth rate! Green = growth, red = decline. Deep colours mean a change in at least 10%, while grey means a change by less than 1%.
The deep green do not reflect parks, but rather Indian reserves or First Nations Land created by numbered treaties.
I don't draw all highways, just the major ones! Just because there isn't a road going there on my map, doesn't mean you need a tractor to visit.
Thanks for playing, and join us next time when we leap from tree to tree and float down the mighty rivers of British Columbia :)
Banff is incredible. Lake Louise has these tea houses you can hike up to and that is the dream for me. A lot of tourists will stay in Calgary, and then travel into Banff for the day since it is so close.
Thanks for the support :D
I have been to 3 National Parks, Grand Canyon, Cuyahoga Valley, and Shenandoah.
