I think drawing XInjiang that way is ok. Central Asia might be the hardest of the world's regions to define. I think this is the most standard one (i.e. including Xinjiang), but I think you could make a case for Mongolia and Tibet at least (and maybe Qinghai and Inner Mongolia as well) in the east and Iran, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, and Turkey in the west. Significant portions of Russia from the Crimea to the borders of Mongolia as well. Anyway, it's interesting to think about. Back to your point, clearly not all of China is part of Central Asia, but probably some of it is.
