Data on L2 speakers of many African languages is hard to find. Transparent areas show the spread of second language speakers (Swahili is mostly a lingua franca between ethnic groups who speak other languages, for example). Standard Tamazight is a standardized version of several different Berber languages in Morocco, including Central Atlas Tamazight, Riffan, and Shilha (all of these work as type-ins), and Standard Tamazight is still in the midst of being developed. Berber languages have been suppressed by the Kingdom of Morocco until very recently, therefore the project was only allowed to commence in the last decade or so.

I created the flag symbols myself, as I've seen flag-circle symbols used to represent different languages and I liked the aesthetic. I might colour-code the languages by language-family in a future update, but I'm not decided yet.

Great quiz! You could also make the area of the map light up, when the yellow box is selected on a particular answer.

Thank you! I will look into it, I've never used that mechanic on a quiz before but I feel it would be quite helpful.

I'm not sure I can make the change unless I had previously copied a quiz of that nature. It's a little unfortunate, I'm sure it would help people to guess Swahili (or Coptic or Tamazight should the characters not show on certain computers).

I think this should work

<style> .svg-highlight {fill: #HEX!important;}

</style>

Ah yes, I didn't think about adding it in the style. I will give it a try, thank you one more :)

Also, could you accept Berber for Tamazight?

Yes, Berber is already accepted (Standard Tamazight is a genuine mess of type-ins)
