Wow, I always assumed that Berber was itself a single language. I never realized that it was a whole family with multiple sub-languages. Very cool!

And they are some interesting languages indeed, lots of history preserved through Punic and Latin loanwords in the languages. As far as I can tell, Morocco broadly recognises 'Berber' with an ongoing effort to create a standardised version of Tamazight that can be learnt in school and bridge communication between the languages, large based around the Shilha dialect.
