Okanagan Cities on the Map

The Okanagan is a region in the heartlands of Southern British Columbia. Centred around the Okanagan Lake this sunny and dry area spans luscious vineyards, 'desert' shrublands and suburban hellscapes climbing up the mountains on either side of the valley. With a famously mild climate, the Okanagan attracts retirees and just about anyone willing to get away from the typical Canadian weather--just look out for the Ogopogo monster!

There are 16 cities, towns, villages and district municipalities in the region, how many can you name?

Similkameen Country is included, although it is generally considered to be its own region. This inclusion adds just one town.

As you may notice, the Okanagan is a very desirable place to move to! (green=slight increase in population, dark green = >10% increase, 2011-2016). It is very popular with seniors, who comprise 43% of the town of Osoyoos, for example.

I included Similkameen Country (Princeton) as the boundary between it and the Okanagan part of said Regional District was hard to accurately draw.

If you are feeling bored, try and find where the thumbnail image was taken. It is possible using all the detail shown on the SVG map :)

Contrary to popular belief, the 'desert' in Osoyoos is not a true desert, although it is certainly quite arid.

I've heard of Kelowna and Vernon before, so I got 2. Is the thumbnail Okanagan Lake?

Not quite, it shows one of the 'cities'.

Hi Jiao!

I'm very sorry to contact you there, I hope that I don't bother you.

Since I'm organizing a project for my interview blog series, I was wondering if you could answer a question which I sent to you through Discord a few weeks ago. Do you think that you could just have a quick look, even if your answer is negative...?

Thanks in advance, and once again sorry for disturbing.

No worries Poirot! Actually I got a lot of spam messages on Discord, and so I missed your message. However, I would be happy to take a look and answer your questions :)

Always feel free to reach out to me.

Oh, yeah, understandable. I'll maybe copy my message here, it could be easier for you. And thanks for your answer!

Hi Jiao! How are you?

I was wondering... Maybe you know that, but last year, I launched the "Interview - The Last Questions" project (https://www.jetpunk.com/users/baptistegorce/blog/interviews-of-jetpunkers-1-20-the-last-questions-explanations). I recently decided to revive it. So... Do you think that you could pick and answer one of these questions (asked by the readers of the interviews), to make it your "last question"? I would completely understand if you didn't want. And obviously, you would have all the time you want.

Thanks in advance for your answer!

Questions from the readers:

-Why do you like learning so many languages?

-Where is your ethnicity from?

-What is the reason for your admiration of South Asian cultures?

I let you choose the one you prefer, if of course you want to take part in the project. ;-)
