How can Winnipeg have more people than Vancouver?

Apr 14, 2019
Because the City of Vancouver (pop. 631,486, 114.97 km square) is only a part of Greater Vancouver (2.46 million, 2,700 km square). As for Winnipeg, pretty much the entire population lives in the city itself (pop. 705,244, 464.08 km square), which is 4 times larger than Vancouver "proper" with a similar amount of people.
