Was blanking on #2 and #3...then read "Some countries/teams no longer exist" and crushed it for 100% with 2:57 remaining.

I should have read the notes...I guessed all the former Yugoslavia countries, and didn't even think of the Soviet Union.

Only 68% for Serbia. People are guessing here. They did not watch final game this year :)

It's a pretty boring sport for most of the world's tastes. As a spectator sport, the wheelchair basketball is so much more fun.

Yeah I agree... I love watching all sports except basketball and baseball

"Soviet Union" is probably worth a 13th medal - in 1992 the "Unified Team" (all of the just-dissolved Soviet Union, minus Georgia) won the women's gold.

I don't know the quizmasters rules, but I always separate the Unified Team from the Soviet Union because it was less than the Soviet Union (just the republics minus Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), and more than just Russia.

Yugoslavia actually has 8, Biggie Smalls is correct, but those are only the men's medals for Yugoslavia. The women won bronze in 1980 and 1988. Serbia does only have two.

on a recent QM quiz, the united team is counted along with the Soviet Union. I think I would group them together, as well. The medals don't belong to any one country... the athletes had been training together because they used to be Soviets... I think it makes the most sense to award them posthumously to the USSR.

Gave the USSR an extra medal for the Unified Team

Sorry, my mistake - Georgia WAS a part of the Unified Team. The ones that were not were Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Cool quiz! I would probably cut the time in half since there's only 9 answers though.

Serbia lies on the Balkan peninsula in southeastern Europe.

Oh, didn't know that's the location of my home country....But we got so many medals at basketball. More than 3 clearly.

I think he's right and Serbia is missing. The Serbian men's team has 2 silver medals. The women's team has one silver and one bronze. 4 total.

Serbia has 3 medals in total. A silver for the men and a bronze for the women in 2016. And another Bronze in 3x3 for the men this year, which I think does not count in this quiz.

The men's team won silver in 2016. In 1996 the "FR Yugoslavia" team (Serbia and Montenegro) also won silver. Not sure if they should count or not. The women's team took home Bronze in 2016. Not sure where I saw that they won silver - looks like I may have been mistaken about that, read bad information, or gotten confused by the fact that they finished 4th in 2020.

Serbia has silver in 2016 in men's basketball and bronze in women's basketball, as well as bronze in men's 3x3 in 2021.

There is also the silver medal in 1996, which was post-war Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro essentially). Whether Serbia inherits these medals or not is always debated but from that team only Paspalj, Danilovic and Savic were born outside of Serbia and all of them consider themselves ethnic Serbs.

If 3x3 basketball was to be added to this Quiz we would have 2 more countries that would join the list:

Serbia (Silver (M) and Bronze (W) in 2016, 3x3 Bronze (M) in 2021)

China (Silver (W) in 1992, Bronze (W) in 1984 and 3x3 Bronze (W) in 2021)

Does 3x3 Basketball count?

i think you got one wrong. 4+4+4 is 12, not 13, so 12 medals, not 13.

Do these medals come from men's and women's basketball?

Ah, it must be both as I'm pretty sure that our bronze medal at this year's Tokyo Games is the Boomers' very first one.
