Interesting book by Ander Monson. It's called "Predator" and it's about his obsession with the original, how it shaped him, what it means, etc. A strange but cool brew of film criticism, cultural criticism, and autobiography. But in re your question, interopia: 1987's "Predator" is a terrific movie, perfect in its way, and "Predator 2" isn't half-bad. But "Alien" is a masterpiece and "Aliens" may be the greatest sequel ever made. So I'm going with the Alien franchise, even though the remaining sequels, by and large, have a pronounced emetic effect on me.
