Ingredients of Six Basic Mixed Drinks (Cocktails)

The Fine Art of Mixing Drinks is a book about cocktails by David A. Embury, first published in 1948. The book is noteworthy for its witty, highly opinionated and conversational tone, as well as its categorization of cocktails into two main types: aromatic and sour. It also outlines six basic cocktails. Can you name all of the ingredients?

bourbon should be accepted for "american whiskey" or not? Most manhattans or old fashioneds are either made with rye or bourbon

Just "whiskey" would have worked, but I have now added "bourbon" as a type-in! Thanks for your input!
