Brazil didn't get its name from a nut, but from a tree called "Pau-Brasil".

Its reddish trunk resembles blazing charcoal. "Brasa" is the Portuguese translation for blazing or incandescent and Brazil (Brasil) was named after that tree by the first Portuguese settlers who set foot there.
