Instead of "speeches", I recommend using "languages" instead. A speech is what an orator holds in public when speaking about a subject (as in The King's Speech). Also, could you accept Assuan for the dam? This is what it was formerly spelt, and probably still is in many languages.

Maybe a typical mistake for a German - thanks for your hint. I fixed it already.

"Assuan dam" seemed to me as being the German spelling - because in Germany it is still written this way. So again: Thank you for your information. Your proposed alternative spelling will work now.

What about Asmara? That's also a capital in east Africa.

I agree, it should be Asmara. I think East Africa would commonly be accepted as roughly Sudan or Eritrea to Tanzania. I’ve never heard of Madagascar being considered as East Africa, even though it is obviously east of the centre of the continent. I think it is more south than east of that point though.
