Seems like there is more variety in the girl's list than the boy's list.

You get have "Bethany" as part of the bunch you get when typing "Elizabeth", but not "Betty" ?

I'm not sure why that is, it certainly wasn't the case when I made the quiz so I assume it's something Quizmaster has put in when the quiz was featured.

I'll see if I can edit it... I'm not sure why you get Bethany when typing Elizabeth as to me the names are very separate, but Betty is definitely short for Elizabeth.

Got the top names from every year except for Amelia and Rebecca. Thanks to my grandma for nabbing me Winifred. Still only good enough for 1 point, though.

I love name quizzes, but dang they're hard! It's like the timer starts and suddenly I forget every name I've ever heard, including my own.

Molly is a nickname/petname form of Mary. I guess this is based on the name given on the birth certificate. So maybe some just go with the nickname the official name and skip the formality. Similar to Jack for John.

Yes, these are all given names.

Whilst back in the day Molly may have been a pet name for Mary/Margaret, both of those names are quite uncommon for children born more recently, so I think Molly is definitely a name in it's own right now, same with Jack.

How did you get more than 10 blocks?

I'm making my own with danish names, and i can only get 10, and they are not even on top of each other

I built it as 6 blocks, then formatted the middle cells to make it look like there is a break between the top and bottom (blank cell, no borders etc). Good luck :)

I'm an American (well, it's complicated, but I've spent most of my life here) and I did so much better on this than on the American girl's names list... Surprised to see that my name, which is very rare in the US, was on here!

You accept Jen for Jennifer; how about Sandy for Sandra?

I don't think they accepted jen as a a nickname per see, but to accept jennifer and all similar names starting with jen, as one group starting with jen. Hope you get what I am trying to say :)

Way too random as to what constitutes a variant of a name. I see your 'source' is Name Geek. Which is verified by... ???

This must have been updated and changed by Jetpunk. It wasn't the source when I first made the quiz.

This quiz shows my age. I managed only 2 in the 2020 / 2014 list but did better the farther back I go. Pathetic really.

Same for me, I tend to do much better the 'older' the names are (I'm 19)

Wow, it is so hard to conjure up names when put on the spot. I missed so many common ones, like Amy, Laura, and Susan. I literally have a Susan in my family smh!

Every Rosie I know (though I think there are just two) uses it as a short form of Rosemary, not Rose.

"How did you manage to get Lesley? I heard the name was pretty old and kinda uncommon! You must know a lot about the British!"

Me who was just typing random Gumball characters until I got a result: Uhhhh... yeah ....totally!
