French Guiana is smaller than Suriname which is close to the bottom of the list. Perhaps France is a near miss?

I'm surprise that Philippines is not on the list.

Me too. Maybe it has to do with deforestation. The Philippines lost a third of its forest cover between 1990 and 2005.
