I always forget the New England capitals. I knew that Vermont's was named after a French city but I couldn't for the life of me remember which one.

And, in typical American contrarian style, Montpelier, Vermont is not pronounced anything like Montpelier, France. To the French's likely chagrin, Vermonters pronounce their capital exactly as it's spelled: Mont-PEE-lee-err. :-O
