Note to self, read the disclaimers before you start. I couldn't get the last answer and was amazed when Egypt came up. Then I saw your note. Doh!

Same here too. I only tried Egypt because I couldn't think of any other country around 91 millions people in the vaguery surrounding area, and when it got accepted I immediately knew there had to have been a disclairmer.... and indeed, there was.

Somehow I didn't remember it went as far south as South Africa. I don't know what I thought was down there.. but that was a silly mistake to make.

I thought the same thing, like maybe it "stopped" at Madagascar or something. Don't know what I thought the water between the two countries was called...

1. Mozambique Strait 2. Some people believe in a Southern Ocean. I don't, and neither does National Geographic or anyone I know of. But South Africa did take me while to get too.

I THINK THEY SHOULD REVOKE YOUR GEOGRAPHY BEE AWARD. ANY SIMPLE MAN CAN SEE THAT EGYPT CLEARLY BORDERS THE INDIAN OCEAN VIA THE RED SEA. ALSO, WRITING IN CAPS DOESN'T MAKE YOUR MESSAGE ANY COOLER, IT'S ANNOYING.

I'm amazed at the number of people who make a comment without reading the comments already there. I guess it's the same sort of person that doesn't do any research before opening their mouths - if you think something isn't right look it up!

For what its worth, the CIA World Factbook classifies the Indian Ocean as this.

In its description it also states that it "includes Andaman Sea, Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, Flores Sea, Great Australian Bight, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Java Sea, Mozambique Channel, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Savu Sea, Strait of Malacca, Timor Sea, and other tributary water bodies".
