No idea, will look into it. It's whatever Google analytics uses to determine approximate location.

Likely just bits the biggest city nearby, hence why #1 is so high up

Finally looked into this... It seems the city data on Google Analytics can be extremely buggy. See this article for reference. Apparently, from their testing, regional data is very very accurate (i.e. state or province) but the particular city or metro can vary greatly and often Google will just lump you into some nearby city if it can't figure it out. It seems very arbitrary, which is a shame for the accuracy of this quiz.

I think some of these automated analytics systems are also fooled by people accessing through a VPN. Especially if they are accessing the site on a corporate network.

Yes, that doesn't look right. Even using the Metropolitan area (1.65m) it would imply that 41% of that population had visited Jetpunk. Seems that Google isn't doing the quiz setter any favours...

% shown here is % of JetPunk's traffic, not % of population.

Also, google analytics works by assigning the nearest city for the uk, which means a lot of the surrounding towns near Newcastle are lumped into it.

Edit: okay it seems you've misunderstood that the numbers appearing here are %s of JetPunk traffic, not millions of people.

That may be because Google Analytics doesn't allocate Australian users to smaller towns as much as other countries, not sure though.

Nice to see my home town (Newcastle upon Tyne) and my current residence (Melbourne) both making the list, and being so high up. Though I'm surprised that Newcastle is so high up!
