If you look at the source data on Wikipedia, Sudan is listed twice, at 13 and 22, while South Sudan is at 40, but none of the 3 data points came from the same source.

Qatar is most guessed (this comment is made immediately after appearing on new quizzes). I love this community.

I think I've been almost everywhere in Qatar and I'm not sure where those eight kms squared could be.

well, most of Kazakhstan is either grassland or desert. Only part of Kazakstan with enouth precipitation to support forest is in the north. The more south you go, the drier it gets

Source

It is widely documented that 72% of Finland's area is forest [1]. Now this corresponds to at most 243.7 km2. However, France reports that there's 16m hectares of forest in metropolitan France [2] and there's 8.466m hectares at its overseas departments [3]. These two correspond to 24.466m hectares, or 244,660 km2. Thus France has more forest than Finland.

In case you're wondering why we've included "overseas" France. These places act in a similar way (to my understanding) as Hawaii does to the US, thus they have every right to be included. Hope this helps!

Norway > Nigeria? Highly doubtful.

Norway is sparse with lots of fjords and forested areas (over 37% forest). Whereas Nigeria is in the middle of desert despite being larger in total area. Admittedly they are close, but even Niger beats Nigeria!

You've got Niger and Nigeria mixed up, but alright.

Based off of what the other comments are saying, Sudan's data is outdated, and it definitely does not have that much more forest than Tanzania. You can see it for yourself by checking Google Maps.

Even if Sudan isn’t that high, the next is Sudan’s other figure! After that is Sweden which is quite a bit less. So needless to say it’s the correct answer, even if not the correct figure.
