So does getting my clothes Taylor-ed turn them into pork roll? I think Lady Gaga may have been onto something here!

I thought Tyler would be acceptable as a Scrabble word since it's a position in the Masonic lodge, (the door-keeper) but when I looked it up it's not in the dictionary.

Hoping to see Biden's name on one of these presidential quizzes soon. It's all the hope I have left at this point.
+3
Level 79
Apr 8, 2020
Maybe you shouldn't hope for that... Every president elected in a year evenly divisible by 20 has either died in office, or have an assassination attempt against them.
For further explanation check this Wikipedia article.

I'm not one for superstitions, unfortunately. No President has died in office since Kennedy and the assassination attempt on Bush was a total failure. Biden's more likely to die from an illness than an assassination, so I don't see it happening. If it does, then obviously someone knew about the curse and didn't want it to be broken so he just said "f--- it" and goes for it.

On the other hand, if Trump gets re-elected and the curse happens to him, then... oh well.

Politicians, ANY politician, are not someone in whom to place your hope. And certainly not ALL your hope.

So who should I place my hope in? Trump? Like that's ever gonna happen.

Last time I checked, Trump was a politician, so no.

I should probably clarify that I don't mean to place all my hope into any specific politician. If anything I should put my hope in the electoral college and that it will choose Biden over Trump. Pretty sure that's what I meant.

Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover were president during the Prohibition Era. They drank alcohol as president?

Drinking wasn't illegal during Prohibition, and alcohol was served at the White House during the Harding administration.

George Washington received a surveyor's license from the College of William and Mary. While he apparently didn't attend classes there, they claim him - go check their website.

I don't get it: If Ulysses is his middle name, then what is the S in "Ulysses S Grant"?
+1
Level 50
Jun 4, 2020
According to Britannica: "Grant decided to reverse his given names and enroll at the academy as Ulysses Hiram (probably to avoid having the acronym HUG embroidered on his clothing); however, his congressional appointment was erroneously made in the name Ulysses S. Grant, the name he eventually accepted, maintaining that the middle initial stood for nothing. He came to be known as U.S. Grant — Uncle Sam Grant — and his classmates called him Sam."

There was no legal birth registry in the US when Grant was born, and his college enrollment may have been the first official registry of his name. My own grandparents changed their first names on their marriage license because they thought their given names sounded too childish for adults. Those became their legal names since it was the first time their names had appeared on an official document.
