Not sure what 4 Non Blondes and Celine Dion are doing here, other than that these songs have been beaten to death at karaoke night and Rolling Stone's readership is unbearable. The others are all cheesy novelty songs worthy of derision (maybe special dispensation for Chumbawamba). What's Up and My Heart Will Go On are perfectly fine songs that just aren't hip enough for Rolling Stone, I guess. I'd put Nookie by Limp Bizkit and Summertime Girls by LFO comfortably ahead of either of those songs.

I'm sure the Celine Dion song is simply the victim of its own massive success, same as the movie that featured it. Titanic was #1 in theaters for an insane 15 consecutive weeks, and then stuck around somewhere in the top 10-20 for a solid 9 months before finally moving out of theaters. That song was getting play on the radio the entire time. People just got sick of it.

What a terrible list. It's just a list of fun songs everyone from that generation enjoyed at parties. I'm sorry for the Rolling Stones readers who weren't invited to said parties, but you're not looking good failing to ruin everyone else's memories.

I'm not knocking the quiz, by the way. It's a perfectly valid quiz! In fact, I just nominated it.

So... you've got lame friends is what you're saying? I went to parties in the 90s but they weren't playing Hanson.

I actually used to love that Right Said Fred song. I had the single on CD and cassette and would play it often to annoy my sister. In my defense, I think I was in elementary school still. And part of why I liked it was that I recognized it was corny.

There were certainly worse songs, but as you'd expect they didn't get the same amount of playtime as most of these did. The list is really "annoying but highly successful songs". My kids love Right Said Fred and they were born well after the 90s.

Proof me and Rolling Stone don’t have the same taste…I like What’s Up, and I like Tubthumping too! Besides that, I mostly agree
