‘Schalke’ should be OK without the ‘FC,’ otherwise you’d have to apply it to most club names, e.g. ‘Manchester United Football Club.’

The Greek club is Panathinaikos, not Panathanikos;

The Croatian one is Hajduk Split, not Hadjuk;

The Turkish Club is Fenerbahçe, not Fenerbaçhe
