very nice mix, well done! maybe Portugal makes the list of closest non-bordering? I guess it depends on what you mean by eruption but Stromboli is constantly active

yes I'm from Rome - I'd say Rome isn't on the coast (the sea is about 20 km away from the ring road surrounding the city) and no one here considers it a city on the coast, however technically I guess it might be considered so, especially if you consider 'metropolitan area'. For example see http://www.laboratorioroma.it/progetti/Centralit%C3%A0/pagina%20Centralit%C3%A0.htm where you can see that the sea is well outside the ring road, however the 'comune' (which translates as municipality I think) does touch the sea.
