Funny, but Hawaii and Puerto Rico as well have roads that are officially called Interstate although they don't connect other states

That is so true. H1 is actually an Intrastate then.

They are Interstates, because they are part of the Interstate *network*.

Alaska has 4 routes of the Interstate Highway Network, totalling 1082.22 miles. OK, they are unsigned and over 1000 of those miles are non-freeway. But they exist!
