Countries That Have Been Controlled by the United States

Enter the modern-day countries whose territory has, at any point in the past, been entirely or partially controlled by the United States.
Liberia was controlled by the American Colonization Society, which was a private rather than government organization, so it is not included.
I wasn't sure whether to include the numerous claims made under the Guano Islands Act, since most of them were never really controlled by the United States - suggestions on this matter are welcome!
