Only Connect Quiz

Hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell, Only Connect is a British quiz show known for its fiendishly difficult questions. This quiz has adapted Rounds 2 and 4 (rules below). Can you find the connections?
Round 2: Identify the connection between the three given clues and then identify what the fourth in the sequence would be.
Round 4: Identify groups of words/phrases which have had their vowels removed. Ys are never omitted.

It's a chain using the first two and last two letters: MadagascAR, ARgentiNA, NAuRU, RUssia. This question is actually not mine but from the TV show itself. Apparently from Madagascar, Russia is the only possible country you can end up with (they explain this in the episode, which at the moment I can't remember, but if I find it I'll put it here).

I'd note that the way they formatted it on the show makes it much more gettable.. and gives an effective 5th country to work with.

Though it's going to be pretty tough to escape geography on this site regardless.

Love Only Connect. Lucius Liu also needs to be accepted as an answer though.

I'd also say i'd like the explanations for the sequence questions on here somewhere too.

Thanks for playing! Here are the explanations!

Admittedly half of these come from the show. I've been trying to rely less on the show for questions and come up with more original questions, as well as cover a broader range of knowledge as opposed to just wordy problems.

I've also updated the quiz to include Lucius, and to (almost) double the time limit.
