The Statue of Liberty clue is a gross oversimplification. Bartholdi the sculptor had an entirely different artistic symbolism in mind, a different structural plan, and a different model for his statue of "Progress" that he planned for the Suez Canal. To claim that THAT was the Statue of Liberty would be like claiming that Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat were the same man because they each had two eyes, a nose, and a mouth. As Bartholdi himself said, "They are similar only in their most superficial traits."
