Great stuff. "For" is a preposition though. It's more commonly used as a preposition than a conjunction I'd have thought. The latter is kinda poetic.

"Since" can be a preposition according to Merriam-Webster and some other sources I found: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/since

Additionally, Ishmael is not Captain Ahab, at least as far as I can tell. He's a separate character, though still not the eponymous character the novel is named for.
