Great quiz! I think Managua could be mistaken for the "Major city on a lake with the same name"-clue. But then again, the fact that the word "lake" is given in quotation marks pretty much hints that Lake Maracaibo is rather a bay than a lake, despite its deceitful name.

It needs a second thought/try, but it's fine, not everything has to be easy.

Managua was the first thing I thought about for this clue, too. It fits and should either be also accepted or the clue should be changed.

Agreed. I kept trying Managua, thinking - this time, it's got to work.

I have to agree. Managua fits the clue also. They have some unusual definitions for geographical features in Latin America - Lake Managua, Rio de la Plata...They're theirs so I guess they can call them whatever they want.

Everything is fine, I've been to Maracaibo and it's namesake body of water is definitely a "lake", whereas Managua is a lake.

Technically I could not do Guyana or Suriname. They don't speak a Romance Language, therefore are not part of Latin America.

LAKE Maracaibo is certainly a lake, it has a broad channel connecting it to the sea which usually make people think it is a bay, but it has none of the characteristics of a bay and all those of a lake.

Maracaibo is as much a lake as Rio de la Plata is a river.

Great quiz but Managua should be an acceptable answer. If you want to emphasize that it's not a real lake then state that it's not a real lake or state that it's in South America. Way too much to assume that in a short timed quiz that subtleties like quotation marks can be picked up.
