50 Greatest Symphonies

A few years ago, the British newspaper the Guardian gave their (slightly biased, but still fun) list of the greatest symphonies of all time. How many can you guess?

Some of the modern composers are hard to guess (and spell) - that's part of the fun!

Me too! His third would definitely be on my list.

I was shocked to not see Mendelssohn or Prokofiev at all here. Shouldn't Mendelssohn Italian, Prokofiev Classical, and Prokofiev 5 be on here? On the other hand, I am not at all familiar with any Walton Symphonies, or Elgar (besides his Enigma Variations, which is not a symphony).

Though initially I was mad I realized it's your favorites :) Some really interesting ones I've never heard of! Thanks for making and sharing!

It's not my favorites, its from the British newspaper the Guardian (as an American myself, I see a bit of bias towards English composers in this list) - check the description.

How are there 3 Mahler Symphonies on there and not Mahler 2?
