Sadly for you, I am not a fan of abbreviations - why do it for some teams and not for others. These are their correct team names according to the BBC Sport website, so I am happy with their full names. Sorry.

that's still a bit ridiculous imo, I agree "Man U" shouldn't be accepted but no one says "Milton Keynes dons" for example. If you're gonna be strict why not add "football club" which is in the name of most of these teams too. Brighton AND hove Albion should also be accepted Imo instead of just accepting "&"

If you look at their website, they are officially called Milton Keynes Dons, so I think it is fair to give them their correct title. If you want me to add "Football Club" I could, but I suspect you would need a lot more time, and would die of boredom typing it. Ditto for Brighton & Hove Albion.
