The longest river in N.America is the Mississippi-Missouri which, by convention is named according to its name at its mouth, not its origin. So Mississippi should be the accepted answer, not Missouri.

Can someone explain, why costa rica is the southernmost country? On the map it looks like it should be Panama?

The southernmost point is Costa Rica because of Cocos Islands which belong to Costa Rica and are further south than Panama.
