Its technically the United Kingdom, but Great Britain should then be an accepted answer. UK should also be an accepted answer.

Also, accepting England as the UK is very American.

And England is part of the nation state that is the UK.

With most of the population and money too. Just like you would accept Britain, I feel like England is just used a lot interchangeably. Even though they technically mean different things.

Thanks for your feedback Luke. I agree that it should be United Kingdom, and not Great Britain (as the 'country' is indeed UK). Regarding the acceptance of 'England', I did it to cater for the misconception that it is a country, however I have now removed this.

England does, however, compete in international football as a country as does Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland which together make up GB/UK. Confusing?

Need San Marino. It's a country in its own right and home to the Imola race track where Ayrton Senna tragically lost his life

Yeah it's pretty weird because there were a San Marino and Luxembourg Grand Prix, but the thing is that San Marino was in Imola, but Imola is actually in Italy and the Luxembourg Grand Prix was held at the Nürburgring in Germany. The reason they were called like that is because the FIA had a rule that it wasn't allowed that one country had more than one race, so they just used the countries that were the closest to the circuits for the name of the Grand Prix and with Imola that's San Marino and with Nürburgring it is Luxembourg, but I can understand the confusion.

The San Marino Grand Prix was held in Italy, at the Imola Circuit near San Marino. Thus, it was not included.

Just a related question, there was a Cuban grand prix although on researching it, it wasn't part of formula 1 despite Juan Manuel Fangio winning it and Sterling Moss winning it twice. It is of course famous for the kidnapping of Fangio. Does anyone know why F1 drivers were in it yet it was not part of F1?

Lots of different races have taken place with participation of Formula One drivers. Some labelled "Grand Prix", which just means Big Prize... The set F1 calendar is usually used for the World Championship races (also included in this quiz)
