The fact about oxygen is incorrect. The most common element on earth (not the atmosphere) is iron. If you are talking about the atmosphere, then the most abundant element is nitrogen.

the fact is correct. as oxygen is tied up in many compounds including sand (SiO2) and anything ending in -ate you choose to name, it is 46% of the earth. Iron is 5%.
