2,371,754.0025 square meters (1,540.05² m) for Rhode Island = 2.37 square kilometers = less than one square mile. When you take out the nearly 1/3 of area that is just the Narragansett Bay inlet of the Atlantic Ocean, Rhode Island is a small state indeed.

This is hard without any clues at all. Also the statistics include sometimes vast amounts of water such as Rhode Island and Maryland's ocean inlets.
