I don't have a problem with non-US people not knowing the 3rd President. I didn't know the Prince question, even with his picture there.

Jefferson is *not* one of the more obscure presidents. I'd say he's right there After Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy and whoever else was president since the 60s-70s. It's the rest of the 18th and 19th century ones that are a bit hard on us non-americans. I think.

Well, I kinda think there may also be a fairly large contingent from France who are also familiar with Thomas Jefferson since he is one of the three primary contributors to the "Declaration of the Rights of Man", a document that helped get the ball rolling for the French Revolution -but I don't remember learning that in 4th grade history. Anyway, Mr.Jefferson was a very accomplished, contradictory, and interesting man who contributed a lot to the world as we know it even if he did have red hair.

I would be willing to bet that more Americans than Brits have taken this quiz given that it's an American website and, quite frankly, there are more of us. That being said, Prince Harry was the top answer, Churchill was 5th, and Elizabeth I was 8th. Jefferson is below that at 9. Which is worse? More Americans know those three Brits above their own third president? Or Americans know more about famous British people than Brits know about famous Americans. Either way, I think Mario makes a valid point. Jefferson's contributions to America and quite frankly the world are FAR more important than knowing that Prince Harry is 3rd in line to the throne. Perhaps if the clue was "Louisiana Purchase President" more non-Americans would know the answer. Either way, Jefferson should be higher.

I see that we have suspended the American vs USA debate for this discussion - that's good. I am from the New World side of the Atlantic and am very familiar with who the third president was, but I had no idea that he was a redhead. Being color blind will do things like that to you. When it come to who knows what about someone else's history, people know the things that they want or need to know. For everything else there is the Internet. Just from the fact that we take these quizzes it is pretty obvious that we are "wired" a little differently from the rest of the folks in the world. Should we tell someone that they should know this fact or that one because it is important to you or just say, "Hey we learned something new about each other's history"? Is it really worth the spike in blood pressure?

It's ridiculous that these spongers automatically get elevated to this special status because of whose vagina they fell from while at the same time we are refusing to help refugees who have nothing and whose homes we bombed in the first place.
