This is just sad. The Armenian genocide killed over a million people, literally created the term genocide, and crippled Armenia so terribly that they spent the next century being bullied by every other country. that only 20 of Europe's 50 countries even agree that this happened is not only shameful, but downright cruel. Armenians lived in Anatolia even before Turks arrived. There are records of Armenian children being abandoned in deserts and the bodies of armenians clogging up rivers so badly, that dynamite had be used to get the water flowing. These coutless atrocities are then denied solely in order to be better friends with the genociders (and so the Turks will remain until they apologize and offer reparations.
Armenians living in Anatolia before the Turks arrived is so not the point at all. Humans are not native to Anatolia. The point is not that one group displaced another group - that is not enough to be called genocide. The point is that there was a specific policy by Talaat Pasha to not only deport non-Turks, but to kill many of them en masse to prevent any possibility of return.
*The most shameful part of not recognizing this is that overall, the history of the Turkish peoples has been one of extreme tolerance compared to others of their time. The Ottomans mostly accepted Armenian Christians without attempts at conversion or expulsion. Then one man reverses this in the worst possible way and they want to cover up.Talaat Pasha was a big supporter of Atatürk, so the new Turkish nation did not want to slander someone supporting their legitimacy. Recently, Erdoğan has distanced his government from Atatürk, but has his own human rights abuses to worry about, so for now there is no progress.
