Tsunamis are more dangerous than volcanic eruptions in Hawaii?

Volcanic eruptions in Hawaii are quite tame compared to most volcanic eruptions out there. They're more of a spectacle to watch. Tsunamis have been far more deadly and devastating, especially the ones that occurred in 1946 and 1960

I'd like to see the source for this information. I realize California is famous for earthquakes but we're far more concerned with wildfires here.
