The years that are listed are misleading. I assume they represent the year the arena was built. However, a lot (most) of these places did not bear the current name in the year that is listed. Showing the year the place was named/renamed woud be somewhat helpful. Showing the year it was built is basically pointless.

I disagree. These places change names so frequently that the year of the last name change would not be useful information.

I agree with yocoy. The Jazz arena was previously EnergySolutions Arena (2006-2015). It would have been helpful to know that the name changed recently.

Two years have passed and the Smoothie King Center sounds downright dignified compared to "Vivint Smart Home Arena" and "Talking Stick Resort Arena".

It's confusing to some as well because "Talking Stick Resort" is a discrete casino/hotel building, but "Talking Stick Resort Arena" is 20 miles away downtown. The Resort building has its own concert/event venue on site, too, "The Showroom at Talking Stick Resort." Additionally, the Diamondbacks spring training facility, across the freeway from the casino, is called "Salt River Fields at Talking Stick." The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is clearly not at a loss for words. :-)

It's been years since I really followed the NBA, and I started with MSG and Boston Garden; those were the only two I got. I tried Spectrum, Mecca, Forum, then I figured I better go corporate, so I tried Southwest, Delta, AIG, SunLife, etc. Those were the good ol' days when arenas had names you could remember. Hell now American Airlines has two NBA arenas' naming rights.

Boston Garden should not be accepted. If you are going to accept Boston Garden then you should accept The Forum, Mecca, Spectrum (not the Hornets arena), The Pontiac Silverdome, etc. It hasn't been Boston Garden since maybe the early 90's.

Starting this upcoming season, the Pistons will be playing in Little Caesars Arena and the Verizon Center has been renamed Capital One Arena. And BMO Harris (or just BMO) should be accepted for the Bradley Center, since its full name is BMO Harris Bradley Center.
