You are right: "El Paso" can't be translated by "Ford". But it can mean both "the step" and "the pass", depending on the context.

Also, Sant Bernardino would be better translated as Saint Little Bernard, as the "ino" is a diminutive suffix.

In what language is "el paso" ford? - I believe the word is a bastardization of "el Paseo de la Reforma" in Mexico City.
