It's an interesting concept, but I think the realization leaves a bit to be desired. It's clear that once we exhaust Romance languages linguistic proximity doesn't mean much with the method used, and we're left blindly guessing Indo-European languages. I also looked at how the similarity is calculated and it seems to compare words and automatically evaluate if they are cognates or just simply similar enough based on their orthography, and it seems it doesn't do a perfect job at it.
Of course I completely agree with you. Excepting the language of a same family, the linguistic proximity isn't meaningless but almost, even more with the method used by this source. But that's actually the goal of these quizzes. If you want to take quizzes about languages groups, try the Jiaozira's maps, theyr aren't beautiful and very interesting. Here, the goal isn't exactly the same. And to be honest, I'm just following a QM concept, who did that very well with English. I'm still thinking that it can be interesting to have an access to this kind of data.
I hope you understand better the idea under this quiz series, and thank you very much for both your remarks and compliments!
But a cool idea nontheless!
